What you will study

Approximately 150 million people in the world speak Russian. Russian serves as the official language in four countries and is widely comprehended throughout Eastern Europe. Moreover, in the past three decades, there has been an exceptional level of transnational mobility for the language.

The Year 1 Russian courses offered by the institution are categorized based on the students' existing knowledge of the language, disregarding whether they are complete beginners or not.

By engaging in intensive language studies, which include a year spent abroad, students will have the opportunity to cultivate advanced skills in speaking, writing, reading, listening, and translating in Russian.

Throughout the four-year duration of the program, students will delve into both the historical and contemporary aspects of Russian literature and culture. They will also gain an understanding of the international political and historical contexts of Russia. During the honors years, students will have the option to specialize in the following areas: • Russian literature, language, and society

• Politics

• Post-Soviet culture.
