Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Global (Placement Year)

The MBA Global at the University of Derby provides students with in-depth, applied knowledge of digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and sustainable business practices, preparing them to become responsible, authentic, and future-ready business leaders. Students have the opportunity to participate in a six-month social impact project, allowing them to apply their skills to real organisational and societal challenges while adding tangible value to businesses.

The programme brings together a diverse international cohort, enabling students to study alongside peers from around the world and build professional networks across private, public, and third sectors through collaborative, practice-based learning. Teaching is delivered by academics actively engaged in cutting-edge research and consultancy with leading global organisations, ensuring that learning remains current, relevant, and industry-informed.

Full-time international students may also undertake a 9–12 month placement in a relevant UK sector, gaining hands-on professional experience and enhancing employability in a competitive job market. Graduates of the programme develop a strong understanding of digital technologies, AI, modern working practices, and sustainable development, equipping them to become responsible, effective business leaders and managers of the future.

International students studying full-time can apply for the degree with an integrated 9–12 month UK-based industry placement, subject to successful completion of taught modules. Throughout the placement application process, students receive dedicated support from the Careers and Employment Service and the MBA Global programme team, including access to networking opportunities, CV-writing workshops, and interview preparation training.
