Through the critical reading of texts of all kinds, the joint honors program in English Literature and History helps individuals understand the world in which they live now, while shedding light on the past.
The program aims to develop critical, analytic, linguistic, and creative skills by engaging with a broad range of texts and a variety of approaches to reading.
Students will have the opportunity to explore the cultural contexts of writing in English from all over the world, spanning from the late Middle Ages to the present.
The Edinburgh experience is known for its distinctive range of historical themes, chronological periods, and geographical areas. Students can select from courses covering the early Middle Ages to the most recent past, as well as Britain and Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
