Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Psychology (Extended) (C803)
University of Greenwich
What you will study
The Extended Psychology degree is available to students who do not have the entry requirements for the standard BSc Hons Psychology programme. The first year is a foundation year in which students learn about psychology, research methods and study skills to a level that prepares them for degree-level study.
Following this, students will join the three-year psychology course, studying modules from cognitive psychology and neuroscience to developmental psychology and social psychology.
This degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society. Provided students pass the project and graduate with second-class honours or above, they become eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the BPS. This is essential if students wish to pursue further training to become a Chartered Psychologist.
The extended Psychology course not only prepares learners for further training for careers in psychology, it also helps them gain technical and interpersonal skills that are popular with a range of employers.
In a typical week learning takes place through a combination of timetabled learning and independent study. Seminars and workshops enable students to discuss and develop their understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller groups. They'll also be able to meet their personal tutor.
Students will be required to gain 50 hours of relevant work experience during the degree. Moreover, the University's Employability & Careers Service (ECS) is committed to supporting students and recent graduates in their transition towards a rewarding graduate destination.
