Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Fine Art

University of East London (UEL)

What you will study

Fine Art is a space for creativity, experimentation and persistence. It’s about pushing ideas, testing materials and finding a personal artistic territory. On this course students will work independently but also side by side with peers and staff, challenging and supporting each other.

This is a small, studio-based course with a strong DIY ethos. Students will learn through repetition, by making and remaking, and through the hard work of trying things out. The studio is more than just walls, it’s a place of community where everyone knows each other and where curiosity and risk-taking are encouraged.

UEL offers a wealth of facilities and expertise to support that process; include painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video and printmaking. Students will also have access to digital processes such as 3D scanning, alongside traditional methods like bronze casting and darkroom photography. These facilities, and the skilled staff who run them, give students the chance to really dig into materials and approaches, to extend their skills and to open up new directions for your work.

Throughout the course students will also have opportunities to share their practice – in exhibitions, projects and UEL's annual student-led auction, experiences that build ambition, teamwork and confidence.
