Overview
The unique interdisciplinary course combines aspects of psychology, mathematics, and computer science. It uses computational models and artificial intelligence to advance the understanding of the brain.
Students will learn:
How the brain is believed to operate at the cellular, network, and systems level
To create mathematical models of brain function and utilize them in simulations
How cognitive phenomena are connected to brain activity
The foundation of current AI algorithms in neuroscience discoveries
Various experimental methods used to assess and analyze brain function
There will be a specific focus on:
How memories are stored and organized in the brain
How networks of neurons carry out computations
The origins of visual illusions in neural circuits
The research encompasses a wide range of computational studies on the brain, from individual synapse changes to the behavior of large populations.
