Overview

The International Incorporated Master in Energy and Sustainability is a one term or two term course that leads to a variety of postgraduate degree courses with The Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee. CEPMLP is a highly respected graduate school specializing in international business transactions, natural resources, and energy law and policy.

The minerals industry is rapidly evolving due to increasing environmental and sustainability concerns. It plays a vital role in the energy transition and as a source of components. Students on this course will explore these changes and gain insight into the industry’s past practices and its path towards a sustainable future.

International Mineral Law and Policy course covers the regulatory and contractual framework of the minerals industry, including the granting of mining rights, the production process, and decommissioning. Students will also examine the decisions faced by governments and companies, as well as how governments can enforce changes to outdated practices to enhance environmental and sustainability performance.

Mining projects present various regulatory challenges, from illegal mining to social and economic impacts. Students will learn about the industry’s stages and its evolving position in the global economy.
