Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Sociology (18J3) (Placement Year)

Bournemouth University - Lansdowne Campus

What you will study

Program Description During this course students will discover what makes society tick, about the glue that holds it together, and the threats that could rip it apart. Sociology is rapidly becoming more relevant in our contemporary world and as a result, the number and range of job opportunities has escalated.

Taught by expert sociologists, this robustly academic social science course integrates global perspectives throughout the three years of study, providing a broader outlook and understanding of issues in society.

As well as benefiting from a huge breadth of subjects, which will give students a solid grounding in sociological concepts, theories and research, they’ll get to participate in inspiring seminars and lectures held by an exciting and eclectic mix of guest speakers. Most importantly though, students have the distinct advantage of completing a 30-week or 20-day work placement, depending on whether they take the four- or three-year version of the course – giving graduates a professional skillset and crucial contacts, as well as making them more employable.
