Honours Bachelor of Science - Nursing (HBSN)

This program prepares graduates for lifelong careers as Registered Nurses. Grounded in vibrant urban and rural communities, faculty collaborate with practice partners to provide diverse learning experiences that reflect the complexity of nursing in a modern healthcare environment. The role of nurses as leaders in healthcare delivery is taught through a practice-based framework that emphasizes real-life experiences.

Faculty and preceptors work closely with students to create opportunities for scholarship and professional growth. These opportunities support the development of nurses who can serve as leaders and advocates for person-centred care. Graduates also receive the additional designation of RN Prescriber. Georgian College is authorized by the College of Nurses of Ontario to provide RN Prescriber education.

The Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree prepares graduates for career opportunities in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics and community health services. This community-based program reflects the specific health needs of local populations, including older adults, Indigenous and Francophone peoples, and individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

The program has been approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario as a full-time, direct-entry program for individuals with no previous nursing knowledge. Applicants with previous nursing credentials are encouraged to explore Georgian College’s other nursing program options.

The program includes a clinical placement component through which students gain practical experience under the supervision of an experienced registered or licensed professional.
