Infectious disease is a major challenge to society in the developed and developing worlds. The University of Edinburgh infectious diseases program investigates the microorganisms that cause disease in humans and animals and how a host responds to infection. It brings together the study of: • Bacteriology • Virology • immunology • Molecular biology
