What you will study
Program Description Students will develop the creative skills and values needed to publish honest, ethically-sourced reports via print, radio, television and online. Their shorthand, news reporting and page layout techniques will develop as they use the industry-standard equipment and facilities on campus. Students will use video, audio and editing equipment in class. Along with high-quality writing, multimedia content will give student news stories the power to reach audiences across digital platforms. Students' journalistic values will be strengthened throughout and they will receive training in media law, ethics and media industry governance. The integrity and confidence this brings will set students apart from other graduates and professionals in the field.
This is the only double-accredited journalism degree in Scotland. The Multimedia Journalism degree from Glasgow Caledonian University has National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) and Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC) accreditation. This degree is validated by the best in the industry and gives students access to a wide range of benefits. The department's academic staff are experienced journalists with excellent industry contacts. Experts from the BBC, STV, Newsquest and The Scotsman frequently deliver guest lectures.
