Master of Arts (Honours) - English Literature and Classics (QQ38)
The University of Edinburgh
What you will study
Many of the basic concepts underlying Western society were expressed for the first time in ancient Greek or Latin. Together with English, they serve as the language of many highly influential literary works.
Studying English Literature and Classics helps individuals understand the contemporary world, as well as shedding light on the past.
This joint honours programme aims to develop students' critical, analytic, linguistic, and creative skills by engaging with a broad range of texts and a variety of approaches to reading.
Students will explore the cultural contexts of writing in English from the late Middle Ages to the present, as well as the highly influential scholarship and literature of the classical world.
Students have the option to choose a Greek, Latin, or non-language pathway through Classics.
