What you will study

Arabic serves as the primary language for over 350 million individuals residing across a vast expanse of land stretching from the Atlantic to the Persian Gulf. It holds the position of the sixth most commonly spoken language globally and is recognized as one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

The acquisition of Arabic not only grants access to a captivating and diverse region but also unlocks the wealth of intellectual heritage stemming from Islam. Additionally, it provides insights into the history, societies, and cultures of the Middle East.

This program has been meticulously crafted to provide a comprehensive foundation in both classical and modern Arabic. It equips individuals with the ability to engage with a wide array of original materials, ranging from pre-Islamic poetry and Islamic religious texts to contemporary sources such as Arabic novels, newspapers, and television.

In addition to developing proficiency in written and spoken Arabic, participants will also gain a profound understanding of the culture, politics, and society of the Arab world, as well as the broader Middle East region, encompassing Turkey and Iran.
