Cambrian College
Serious games are developed for purposes that extend beyond entertainment, using game engines to create engaging experiences, motivate learners through gamification, and apply extended reality technologies to produce innovative solutions for workforce training across diverse industries.
In the one‑year Serious Games – Design and Development Graduate Certificate program at Cambrian College, students explore how video game design techniques and technologies are transforming the ways people learn, conduct business, and advance industry practices. Graduates are prepared to contribute as members of interdisciplinary teams in sectors such as mining, construction, health, education, and research, working as serious game or game design specialists.
For individuals who are already programmers or game designers and developers, the program offers an opportunity to specialize in the expanding serious games sector, broaden their skills beyond entertainment‑focused applications, and enhance their career prospects.
