Overview

In grade 11, students explore the arts, Canadian and world studies, classical studies, computer studies, international languages, health and physical education, interdisciplinary studies, mathematics, native languages, native studies, the sciences (biology, chemistry, earth and space science, environmental science, and physics), social sciences and humanities, and technological education.

In Senior School, the focus is on developing well-rounded individuals. Through opportunities such as co-curriculars, leadership roles, Boarding Life programming, and the Appleby College Diploma with Distinction in Global Leadership, students learn to develop the vital academic and social skills needed to succeed at the next level of their educational endeavours.

At the Senior School level, students have an opportunity to develop, practice and apply leadership skills in a variety of settings. Through the co-curricular program, the advisor program and the residential life program, students learn about leadership. They have the opportunity to practice and reflect through leadership clubs including Senior School Council, International Council, Service Council, Arts Council, Residential Council Club or many more leadership clubs. Students can participate in a number of conferences including the CAIS Senior School Student Leadership Conference, a variety of international and regional Round Square conferences and workshops designed specifically for students in the senior school.

Appleby offers an Advisor Programme, where advisors work with students, their parents, their teachers, and school directors to encourage, guide and provide support to students. A co-curricular passport (the guide for students in choosing co-curricular options over the course of their Appleby experience), as well as Intercultural learning, international exchange, outdoor, and experimental education, are available for students at Appleby College.
