Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Clinical Technology (With Placement Year) (H901)

Develop the skills you need for a career as a clinical technologist, capable of applying your knowledge to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. You will learn:

• to design and manufacture medical equipment • tissue engineering and wound repair for making artificial organs • application, repair and maintenance of medical devices • to carry out physiological measurements, such as ECG, EMG, BMI, spirometry and skin analysis

You will specialise in three areas - renal technology (dialysis), rehabilitation engineering (prosthetics / orthotics), and medical technology/engineering.

The modern hospital is now the centre of a technologically sophisticated healthcare system, and this requires equally technologically sophisticated staff. This mean you’ll be highly employable as a graduate.

Sandwich Year

This 4-year BSc (Hons) Clinical Technology programme offers you the opportunity to take up a placement year working in industry in your third year.

The placement year is an excellent way to develop your professional experience, build industry contacts, and gain insight into the day-to-day work of a professional clinical technologist. Placements are predominantly salaried positions and may lead to offers of employment upon graduation if you excel during your placement.

Support for placement applications is plentiful, with a dedicated Faculty Career Development Advisor and academic staff members overseeing placement students. All students on placement are assigned an academic supervisor who will visit them during their placement year and can provide advice and guidance.
