What you will study

Program Description Build a future by studying in the UK, with a pathway course at Kaplan International College (KIC) London. Situated in the world’s top academic city (QS Best Student Cities 2019), the College will prepare students for a university degree, and for a successful career. Study at one of the most respected international colleges in London, and progress to one of 8 universities, including the University of Westminster. The commercially well-connected University of Westminster is hugely international. Students can study alongside students from nearly 170 countries. From sole traders and SMEs to multinationals and worldwide enterprises, all businesses rely on financial managers to interpret financial and performance data into valuable market insight. Combining general business management skills with financial acumen, students will become problem-solvers and strategists, able to identify profit potential, new market opportunities or flag up early warning signals. This degree is designed to equip students with a unique set of accounting and managerial skills to analyse and evaluate company and industry trends. They will learn how to receive, interpret and communicate financial and other information in a globalised profession. Gaining a deeper understanding of how finances affect company performance, they will be better placed to help firms make effective business decisions. Upon completion of the degree, students will be eligible to apply up to eight CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) exemptions and five ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) exemptions. In this fast-changing business world, there is a shortage of graduate talent with both accounting and business management education and skills. The course covers management accounting, business and management education, and financial strategy. Generating value for the organisations people work in, students will look to the future, analysing the performance of business, advising or creating strategies to solve problems, adapt to changing circumstances and market conditions. Taught by academics with professional experience as accountants and managers, there is an emphasis on learning through practice, so students graduate with the breadth of knowledge and capabilities to respond proactively and creatively to contemporary business issues and challenges. Throughout the course, they will also develop a range of transferable skills highly prized by employers, such as critical evaluation, self-direction and problem-solving, as well as a sound grasp of analysis, presentations and negotiation techniques. Students will be capable of holding positions of significant responsibility and authority in public companies, private businesses and government agencies. Past graduates have found successful employment as management, marketing and advertising trainees, as trainee accountants and brand managers, recruitment consultants, retail managers and as assistants in market research, PR and global branding.
