Overview
Chinese is one of the world’s most important languages: over one billion people, or fifteen percent of the world’s population, speak Chinese as a native language.
Chinese Studies offers the following programs: • Four-year language courses at all proficiency levels, including business Chinese • Interdisciplinary courses on culture, literature and linguistics, taught in English • Placement and Credit-by-Exams administered by the University Testing Center • Multiple annual scholarships at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The Chinese studies program at the University of Houston has offered a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese studies since 2007. In addition, the program provides a faculty-led Summer Study Abroad Program since 2002.
