College Diploma - Administrative Professional - Legal Services
New Brunswick Community College - Saint John
What you will study
The Administrative Professional: Legal Services program is designed to develop the broad range of skills required to perform administrative duties vital to a legal office environment. During the first year, learners focus on key software applications to organize, prioritize, manage, and present information in a variety of ways using proper formatting and record-keeping techniques, spreadsheet operations, and accounting principles and tools. Learners are also equipped with the necessary problem-solving and communication skills to articulate information in writing and orally and deliver quality client service. Throughout the second year, emphasis is placed on developing knowledge of the Canadian legal system and the legal administrative professional’s role. Legal terminology, transcription, and legal office skills are developed, and learners are introduced to legal software systems. Simulations and experiential learning opportunities are used to support skills development throughout the program. A workplace practicum at the end of the program provides networking and relationship building opportunities and the chance to integrate newly acquired knowledge and skills into a legal office setting. Please note: The January intake is an accelerated format of this program. This will impact length of study and tuition. Please be advised that the tuition listed for this program identifies the January start date in order to best help students prepare financially.
