Master of Arts (Honours) - German and Russian Studies (RR27)

The University of Edinburgh

What you will study

German and Russian cultures have had a profound influence on each other for several centuries, as they have engaged in peaceful cultural exchange, migration and mobility, as well as war and conflict.

A significant portion of Europeans, more than one third, are native speakers of German, while approximately 150 million individuals worldwide speak Russian.

By participating in an extensive language study program, which includes a year abroad, students will have the opportunity to develop advanced oral and written proficiency in both languages. This joint honors program aims to equip students with comprehensive language skills.

In addition to language classes, students will delve into various aspects of Russophone and German-language culture spanning from the Middle Ages to the present day. The curriculum encompasses the study of literature, film, and theatre from Europe and other regions, all examined within their historical, political, and social contexts.
