Developed exclusively for doctors, dentists, pharmacists, allied health professionals and non-clinical staff who want to advance into a leadership role, the MSc Healthcare Leadership programme will arm students with the skills, knowledge and experience to become a successful healthcare leader, and take their career to the next level. Effective leaders are vital for maintaining the highest standards in healthcare. The MSc Healthcare Leadership programme has been expertly designed to equip students with all the skills, knowledge and experience to become a successful healthcare leader. Students will learn how to enhance their effectiveness as a leader and manager, influence and develop their team, and implement and design organisational education strategies – while recognising and managing their professional responsibilities in a highly regulated, inter-professional context.
Throughout this programme students will develop an in-depth understanding of professional standards and changes taking place within the NHS, both nationally and locally, with specific reference to the NHS Commissioning Board and its new Regions, Local Area Teams, and Clinical Commissioning Groups. The curriculum content will also offer an understanding of the wider health and social care sector within the UK. Students will learn how to systematically analyse influences on leadership practice, and about the ways that research, evidence, and implementation of education strategies can lead quality improvements in healthcare settings. Students will also learn how to think critically, exercise professional judgement, reflect on their own practice, and manage the challenges of responsible and ethical leadership, enabling them to become a successful healthcare leader.
