What you will study
Arabic serves as the primary language for over 350 million individuals residing across a vast expanse of land spanning from the Atlantic to the Persian Gulf. It holds the distinction of being the sixth most commonly spoken language globally and is recognized as one of the six official languages of the United Nations.
The combination of Arabic and History proves to be an exceptional pairing. The joint honors program offers participants the opportunity to contextualize their comprehension of the Arabic language, the Middle East, and the Islamic world within the broader scope of human history. Throughout the program, students will dedicate a year to studying and utilizing Arabic in an international setting.
Participants will acquire proficiency in both classical and modern Arabic while delving into the historical and contemporary aspects of the Arabic-speaking world. In addition to unveiling the captivating and diverse nature of this region, a command of the Arabic language grants access to the abundant intellectual heritage of Islam.
