Postgraduate Certificate in Education - Primary Teaching leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - General Primary (X100)
Kingston University London - Kingston Hill
What you will study
This course will enable students to become an effective, inclusive and evidence-informed teacher. At the heart of this course is a commitment to personalising students' journey to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Students will grow in confidence and competence with University's outstanding support as they train to become a teacher.
Kingston University will help students develop a deep understanding of the primary curriculum and acquire a range of teaching methods, based upon the latest research in education. Students will find a supportive learning environment at the University and in their partnership schools. They will benefit from two contrasting placements in the committed partnership of schools, spending two-thirds of their course across both placements.
Students will have a wide range of learning experiences, including the very popular Dorset residential trip at the start of course where students will begin to consider how to make use of the world beyond the classroom door.
Students will also benefit from a course that supports them in becoming a reflective, research-engaged teacher who can use evidence to drive improvements in young people's learning and wellbeing. The PGCE modules form part of Master of Research in Education, which students can continue with beyond their PGCE year.
