Associate of Applied Science - Fisheries and Wildlife Technology

Program Highlights • Independent field/lab-based research projects, with opportunities to present at state/national conferences • Hands-on learning objectives, with most labs sections being taught in the field or in the hatchery • Conference events where students can begin to build a professional network • State-of-the-art equipment, including a suite of sampling devices modeled on gear currently used by private industry and state agencies • Electrofishing opportunities with access to three different-sized electrofishing boats and backpack electrofishers • Diverse teaching collections including freshwater and marine fish, invertebrates, plants and a variety of microorganisms

Our extensive, on-campus aquaculture facilities include: • An indoor 40,000-gallon recirculating cold-water hatchery • Warm-water and shellfish hatcheries • Endangered species and tropical ornamental hatcheries • Experimental earthen ponds and high-tunnel greenhouse ponds
