Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Fashion Marketing with Integrated Foundation Year

Regent's University London

What you will study

Program Description This course, with an integrated foundation year, will teach students how to create innovative designs based on market research, consumer needs and commercial environments. This a useful entry point if students don’t have the qualifications needed to enter a degree-level course directly, or if they are uncertain which pathway to follow. Students will be introduced to a variety of key topics (from fashion and interior design to marketing and promotion) and gain the fundamental skills to confidently progress to degree-level. Once students have successfully completed their foundation year, they will progress to the first year of BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing. To successfully launch a product in the fashion industry, students will need to constantly seek creative ways to tell stories – building brand reputations, attracting new customers and generating sales. This pathway combines creativity, business and commercial viability – teaching students the fundamental aspects of marketing (how to forecast trends, evaluate consumer behaviour, gather data, devise strategies and tell compelling stories) and exploring how to apply them to the fashion industry specifically. In the first year, students will analyse current fashion campaigns and evaluate how well they tell stories that resonate with their customers. In the second year, students will experiment with re-telling existing stories, and in the final year, students will focus on creating their own stories from scratch – exploring the use of photography, video, social media and collaborations. Using the specialist software equipment, students will learn how to shoot fashion photography for campaigns and access a range of industry resources, including Fashion Monitor (an influencer marketing tool). Studying in the heart of London, students will have plenty of opportunities to visit influential fashion houses and marketing agencies – working on live briefs and devising strategies for fashion shows, events, campaigns and photoshoots, while building a network of contacts and creating a professional portfolio. Students will also have the option to study abroad in the second year, further expanding their understanding of this industry, globally. Graduate as an innovative, visionary marketer, ready to succeed in a range of fashion careers, from marketing and PR to e-commerce, merchandising and trend forecasters.
