Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Politics and Economics (LL12)

University of Reading

What you will study

Study BA Politics and Economics and develop a deep understanding of the critical political and economic issues that dominate the news agenda and shape the world in which we live.

In politics, students will acquire a strong grounding in the fundamental elements of the subject such as political ideas and democratic processes. They can study a wide range of specialist core and optional modules, which cover topics such as British government and politics, European political integration, and political thinking.

In economics, students will study both applied and practical issues and focus on the relationship between economics and society. This course places less emphasis on mathematical and statistical content, and instead will focus on the relevance of these techniques to applied problems. Students will still learn necessary maths skills in their core modules, but extensive support is available should they need it.

Learning is informed by world-leading research and is led by expert staff who have direct experience of the world of politics and international affairs. Most of student's learning time will be spent in small seminar groups, allowing them to interact directly with staff and other students and add their own voice to the discussion.
