What you will study
Cognitive neuroscience looks at how our brains support our thoughts, feelings and actions. On this course, they'll study core psychology modules with cognitive neuroscience practical's. They'll develop skills in brain imaging, behavioral measurement and physiological psychology.
In years one and three they'll have optional modules to choose from. This is their chance to explore the areas of psychology that they find interesting. As we have experts across the spectrum of psychology, we are able to offer them a choice from different areas. For example, the Neuropsychology and Applied Neuroimaging module covers the effect of brain damage. They'll learn how it can impair language, memory and motor control.
Our research is transforming lives. We want our students to be part of this. In your final year, they'll do their own research project. They'll have a wide choice of topics. These could be from behavioral to social psychology.
Previous project topics include: anxiety and mental health neurodiversity spatial cognition brain imaging Computer science pathway The optional year in computer science will develop their skills in the interdisciplinary field of psychology and computer science. They will learn how the two subjects work together and they can study topics such as human-computer interaction and computer programming. By choosing this pathway they will graduate with a specialized degree, titled BSc Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience with a year in Computer Science. This specialized degree will open up a wide range of exciting career opportunities in a fast-evolving industry. They can choose this optional third-year pathway in year two once they enroll.
