The Sustainable Design & Construction Management Technology Diploma at Okanagan College is a nationally accredited, two-year program that builds on the foundation of the Sustainable Construction Management Certificate. Designed for those seeking to lead, innovate, and implement sustainability in the built environment, this diploma provides a deeper, more advanced learning experience grounded in whole systems thinking.

Across four semesters (five to six courses per semester), students gain applied expertise in construction management, project coordination, virtual design in construction (VDC), sustainable building systems, energy efficient and low-carbon mechanical systems, and whole building retrofits. The diploma also integrates industry-driven capstone projects that contribute to the economic, environmental, and social well-being of the community. Leadership development, advanced project delivery methods, and integration of sustainable technologies and practices are emphasised to prepare graduates for broader roles in one of Canada’s most in-demand and purpose-driven industries.

Learning is flexible and accessible, with most coursework completed in hybrid-online delivery, supported by an in-person weeklong intensive at the Penticton campus featuring workshops, labs, site tours, and hands-on collaboration with instructors, industry professionals, and peers. Learners also have the option to pursue the diploma on a part-time basis or enroll in individual courses to explore specific areas of interest.
