What you will study
If students would like an exciting career in the fast-paced world of journalism then this is the course for them. Develop the skills needed to work in a multi-disciplinary media environment including TV, radio, print and online journalism in this Bournemouth University course. Students will Produce news broadcasts in Bournemouth's professional TV studios, design magazines, film TV news packages and interview members of the public as well as guests on live radio. They'll also take part in authentic news day activities in the community to reflect real industry practice and publish news and features across student platforms. Students will learn from experienced professionals and successful alumni. Previous speakers include Jon Snow (Channel 4), Jake Wallis Simons (Daily Mail Online), and Stephen Sackur (BBC HARDTalk). Students will be able to take advantage of Bournemouth University's partnership with AFC Bournemouth to cover home games, attend pre-match conferences and conduct interviews at Vitality Stadium. Students will be able to make invaluable industry connections during a 30-week work placement with organizations such as national and regional media, the BCC and Sky Sports. The 24-hour news cycle has changed the way that journalists work and report. This course prepares students for a job in this field, where they're expected to work across a range of channels and using a variety of mediums. Graduates have gone on to work for the likes of Sky News, CNN, the BBC, Capital Radio and Bloomberg, among many others. Graduates be career ready with 89% of graduates from the media, journalism and communications courses in employment after 15 months.
