The Health and Life Sciences course aims to provide the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills required to succeed in the degree pursued at Brunel University London. Students will examine a range of research approaches, techniques, and methodologies, and will manage their personal development, as well as their intellectual and practical skills.

Occupational Therapy BSc The human body is amazing, but when things go wrong, whether mentally or physically, individuals often aren’t able to do activities that matter to them. What are the barriers to activity? Are there ways to overcome these barriers? These are the questions aspiring occupational therapists will seek to answer.

At Brunel, students will integrate theory with practice. They will learn to examine the physical, psychological, and contextual aspects of a patient, from the acute stage through to general rehabilitation in the community. They are encouraged to be creative in their approach and to develop ways to solve patients’ problems; for instance, they might help someone who has had an amputation use a wheelchair and identify ways to adapt their kitchen. On the course, they will be encouraged to use their own skills and hobbies to aid rehabilitation, which could be anything from art or music to hair braiding.

They will learn to use research and literature and to examine evidence to inform their understanding of a patient’s condition. Eventually they will learn the skills to undertake their own research.
