University of Chester - Exton Park (Parkgate Road) Campus, Chester

What you will study

Program Description The combined 4 year programme allows students with lower academic marks, or whose qualifications are not equivalent to British A Levels, to gain the necessary qualifications to proceed to undergraduate study. After completing the Foundation Year, students will be eligible to progress to a number of University of Chester undergraduate programmes. Chester is an exciting place to study History – a Roman and medieval town with a key role in the Civil War that remains the capital of Cheshire. At Chester, the study of history ranges from the fall of Rome to Cold War America. Students can explore turning points in history, the Vikings, the Crusades, the Consumer Revolution, the Reformations, the Witch-Craze, the English Civil War, the Holocaust, and minorities and migration in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Department also works with the Grosvenor Museum in Chester, and currently has use of the Cheshire Record Office and the Cheshire Military Museum archives. History graduates have pursued a wide range of careers, including roles in teaching, law, the Civil Service, publishing, business, IT and research.
