Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Games, Design and Animation (I603)

The BA (Hons) Game Design at the University of West London has been developed to fuse technical and creative abilities, combining a strong foundation in art and design with computing and scripting elements to help students create the visual and interactive components of games.

As students develop their creative 3D animation skills, they will explore games as a medium for communication and storytelling, with opportunities to experiment with new or unconventional modes of interaction and consider games as spectator or theatrical experiences.

Students will be introduced to the digital tools used throughout the course and will learn how to develop game narratives, assets and levels. As the course progresses, they will explore performance and motion-capture methods alongside traditional character animation techniques, and examine interaction and user-interface design while testing their own gaming ideas.

In the final year, students will develop a digital product as part of a major project, gaining valuable experience in applying their knowledge, business planning and entrepreneurial skills. This work can form the foundation of a professional portfolio to showcase to potential employers or investors.

Graduates will leave the course with strong creative and workplace skills, as well as the ability to continue developing their portfolio for careers in the games industry.
