The BA (Hons) Business Management and Marketing with Placement Year equips students with in-depth marketing knowledge and high-level management skills, providing a competitive career advantage across a range of industries. The programme is accredited by both the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), allowing students to graduate with the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership alongside their degree, as well as gain exemptions from professional marketing qualifications. CMI accreditation supports progression toward Chartered Manager status, while CIM recognition ensures graduates meet the professional competencies required of today’s marketers.

The course develops expertise in all elements of the marketing mix, brand communication, digital marketing for 24/7 business environments, and innovative market-sensing approaches. Practical experience is embedded throughout the degree, including work placements, live consultancy projects, business simulations, topical case studies, and field trips, such as visits to the Sony UK Technology Centre and international experiences in Barcelona and Copenhagen. A live consultancy project enables students to apply their learning to improve real business performance, enhancing skills in marketing, research, project management, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Students also gain CMI affiliate membership, providing access to networking events, online resources, and additional career development opportunities. The programme includes an optional placement year or summer internship to further develop employability, offering hands-on application of business and marketing knowledge in professional settings.
