What you will study

University Pathways Fast Track at RMIT UP is an accelerated pathway designed for high-achieving international students, preparing them for university in half the time of a Foundation Studies course. Delivered over one semester by RMIT UP (CRICOS provider number: 01912G), a fully owned entity of RMIT University, the program equips students with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for future academic success.

Located in the heart of Melbourne, RMIT UP’s specialist staff support students throughout their journey, while providing opportunities to build global and social networks that contribute to success at RMIT and beyond.

To ensure students get the best start to their studies, RMIT offers careers counselling, as well as academic and welfare support services that can be accessed flexibly.

University Pathways Fast Track features focused, discipline-based streams, allowing students to align their studies with their interests and goals. Available streams include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Art, Design and Architecture, Business, and Communication and Social Context.

Prospective students are encouraged to contact an RMIT international advisor for assistance with their application and to determine the most suitable study option.

University Diploma - Visual Arts (C5414) (108040F) RMIT’s Diploma of Visual Arts enables students to develop a professional folio of work while building technical, creative and conceptual skills in a studio-based environment.

The program is taught by practising artists with national and international reputations, providing students with valuable industry connections and opportunities to engage with professional projects, galleries and other artists. Combining both practical and theoretical study, the diploma is developed in collaboration with the arts industry and prepares students for careers in visual arts and related creative fields.

A strong emphasis is placed on the development of a professional folio that reflects each student’s individual creativity. This folio demonstrates the progression of their work, highlighting skill development and the ability to apply these skills in creating artworks grounded in a personal conceptual and philosophical approach.

The diploma also focuses on exhibition practice and industry engagement, with students undertaking independent studio work while developing specialised technical and creative expertise.

Upon completion, students may progress to the Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts, a further one-year qualification that allows for more specialised exploration of their creative practice.
