Students will learn: • Understanding human behaviour, communication, and interaction as shaped by social and cultural contexts • Communicating effectively and persuasively in a language other than English in speech and/or writing • Reading and comprehending primary texts, often in foreign languages; conducting original research • Appreciating the ways in which language subtly shapes expression and affects communication • Determining and articulating the effects of historical peoples and events on modern cultures and practices • Understanding significant differences between groups, societies, religions, and cultures; using this knowledge to identify similarities and bridge differences in the workplace and elsewhere
