The Social Service Worker – Fast-Track program is an intensive, one-year diploma designed for individuals who already hold postsecondary education or relevant experience and want to enter the social services field quickly. The program prepares students to support individuals, families, and communities facing a wide range of social, emotional, and economic challenges.
Students develop practical skills in interviewing, counseling, crisis intervention, and case management while gaining a strong understanding of social service systems, community resources, and professional ethics. Emphasis is placed on working with diverse populations, including individuals experiencing mental health issues, addiction, homelessness, poverty, and family violence.
The program combines classroom learning with a supervised field placement in a community agency, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings. Through this hands-on experience, students build confidence, professional networks, and job-ready skills.
Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in a variety of settings such as community agencies, shelters, schools, and mental health organizations, where they provide support, advocacy, and referrals to help clients improve their well-being and access needed services.
