Overview
The Computer Systems Certificate (CSC) in Part-time Studies provides foundational skills in software development, mathematics, computer systems, and computer science. CSC is part of a series of laddered credentials leading to the Computer Systems Technology (CST/PTS) Diploma, and Bachelor of Technology (CST BTech). Participants are introduced to solving problems by starting with Python, moving to Java, and C programming, along with other entry-level computing and IT skills. Students work in teams to integrate databases, and gain hands-on experience with software application development, plus build websites with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. There is a foundation in mathematics and computer architecture, as well as business analysis and systems design, along with soft skills for the workplace, including business and technical reports, interpersonal communication, group work and presentations. Required courses include: Computer File Management, Database and SQL, Computer Architecture, Business Analysis and Systems Design, UX/UI Fundamentals and Agile.
The purpose of CSC is to provide a solid foundation of programming languages, web, and systems development for entry-level careers in Computing and IT. Please note: Flexible Credential programs are part-time however enrollment in these programs does not affect PGWP eligibility.
