Overview

The joint honors program offers a vibrant study of religions combined with the excitement of English literature. The program explores religious beliefs and practices and their relationships with the wider world through an interdisciplinary approach.

Students will have the opportunity to delve into the concepts and emotions that form the foundation of religious belief and practice, and examine their role and function in culture and society. The program covers both historical and contemporary material, with a particular emphasis on understanding and analyzing the groups and individuals who practice religion, as well as their gods, deities, ancestors, and spirits.

Reading and writing are fundamental practices in both religion and English literature, and this program aims to introduce students to major texts in both disciplines. By providing the necessary tools and critical skills, students will be equipped to comprehend and interpret these texts effectively.
