Nottingham Trent University - City Campus
What you will study
Program Description Over recent years the demand for qualified accounting and finance professionals has grown. The Nottingham Business School recognises that demand; creating graduates with not only a degree but also accreditation towards three major accountancy bodies: the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Accounting and Finance is an integral function within the global business environment. This course enables students to make sense of a range of important real-world issues affecting people's everyday lives and improves their decision-making skills in ways that are distinctive to the disciplines of economics. Taught by experienced staff from the profession, this degree not only looks at the theories and practices of accounting and finance, but also their context in a business setting and significance within contemporary society.
Students will develop the expertise they need to make an effective contribution to decision-making and problem solving, as well as the self-confidence and interpersonal skills needed to operate comfortably and effectively in the workplace.
A distinctive part of this course is the way students will develop as a team player. Students will engage in team-based exercises that help them to understand the real issues facing organisations and how financial and accounting ideas can play a part in problem solving.
As an Accounting and Finance student, students will have access to Nottingham Trent University's unique Business Lab facility. With 12 double-screen workstations, the room gives students a simulated experience of working in the fast-moving world of shares trading. Students can access sophisticated analysis tools and data on worldwide financial markets.
