Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Film and Television Production (Foundation Year) (P315)
London Metropolitan University - Aldgate
What you will study
This Film and Television Production (including foundation year) BA (Hons) degree is a four-year course with a built-in foundation year.
The course is a great fit for students who want to study film and television production at undergraduate level but can't meet the entry requirements for the traditional three-year course.
London Met's film production and photography courses are third in the UK for teaching quality and fourth in the UK for student satisfaction in the Guardian University Guide 2023.
During the foundation year you’ll learn the key principles of creative practice, the conceptual process of idea development and the techniques and materials you’ll use to form your first projects.
Later in the course you’ll focus on longer projects and work on film recording, editing and sound, exploring techniques and methods that will help you achieve your creative vision. Your work-in-progress projects will be presented to students and staff regularly to prepare you for the final show at the end of the year. These presentations are an opportunity to ensure your work is progressing the way you intend it to.
The foundation year will give students the chance to explore what their specific practice might be, with the option of specialising after this initial year. This foundation year will be shared with students from other foundation year courses, so students will get to learn about different disciplines within the School of Computing and Digital Media.
Students will also learn from tutors who are specialists in the field of film and television production, giving them an insight into the industry and its modern practices; the course also includes a work placement element.
Students will be encouraged and supported throughout the course, with regular feedback given to ensure they're are achieving their full potential.
By the end of the course they’ll have created a substantial portfolio. They’ll also get to display their work at a public screening.
An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
