Cardiff University - Cathays Park
What you will study
In the Environmental Geoscience course, students will have the opportunity to delve into various processes that occur on our planet, including acid rain and global warming, while also seeking solutions to geological problems both in the UK and worldwide. Throughout the program, students will develop advanced skills in mapping, research, analysis, and problem-solving, equipping them with the necessary tools to tackle complex geological issues.
The region of South Wales, with its rich geological history, serves as an ideal location for understanding the impact of geology on landscapes and industries. Regular field trips to areas of natural beauty and former industrial and mining sites provide students with firsthand experiences and practical knowledge. Additionally, there are opportunities for overseas trips, with previous destinations including Tenerife and Cyprus.
One of the highlights of this four-year program is the chance to spend an academic year studying at one of our partner universities abroad. This experience offers students a fantastic opportunity to immerse themselves in different cultures and perspectives, gaining insights into alternative styles and approaches to their subject matter in another country. Exploring new physical environments, landscapes, and coastlines further broadens students' horizons. Moreover, studying abroad allows students to forge new friendships and connections from around the world, fostering a global network.
Engaging in this international experience also enables students to develop a range of life skills and strengths that are highly valued in today's increasingly global workplace. Adaptability, resourcefulness, and resilience are just a few of the qualities that students can cultivate during their time abroad, enhancing their competitiveness in the job market. Overall, the Environmental Geoscience course offers a formal and comprehensive education that prepares students to make a positive impact on the world while providing them with invaluable personal and professional growth opportunities.
