Bachelor of Engineering - Civil Engineering (H200)
University of Roehampton
What you will study
The Civil Engineering programmes provide a comprehensive education in structural, environmental, and geotechnical engineering, with an emphasis on sustainable infrastructure and construction project management. They are designed to prepare graduates for rewarding careers in developing infrastructure and addressing critical global challenges.
This course offers students the option of a one-year paid work placement to further enhance employability. Those who choose this route will undertake the placement after their second year and then return to complete their degree.
Students work in mixed groups across SETEC programmes and year levels to solve real-world design challenges.
The project develops design, teamwork, and communication skills. Participants create concept designs using sketches, digital drawings, models, and short written explanations, with a focus on creativity, collaboration, and professional design processes.
Civil engineers are responsible for designing, constructing, and maintaining infrastructure such as roads, bridges, buildings, and water systems. They ensure projects comply with legislation and safety standards, while planning and managing construction activities and overseeing contractors and site operatives. They also assess environmental impacts, solve complex engineering challenges, and ensure the structural integrity and sustainability of the infrastructure they deliver.
