Centennial College - Progress
The Contemporary Journalism graduate certificate prepares students to produce accurate, engaging, and ethical news content across digital, broadcast, and multimedia platforms. Designed for individuals with prior postsecondary education, the program focuses on modern journalism practices in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
Students develop skills in news reporting, feature writing, interviewing, and investigative journalism, while also learning multimedia storytelling techniques such as video production, podcasting, and digital content creation. The curriculum covers media law, ethics, data journalism, and the use of social media and analytics to reach and engage audiences.
Through hands-on assignments and real-world projects, students gain experience covering current events, conducting interviews, and producing content under tight deadlines. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, critical thinking, adaptability, and responsible reporting.
Graduates are prepared for roles such as journalist, multimedia reporter, content producer, or digital news writer in news organizations, media outlets, and online publishing platforms.
