The Sports Journalism graduate certificate prepares students to report, produce, and deliver compelling sports stories across multiple media platforms. Designed for individuals with prior postsecondary education, the program builds advanced skills in journalism with a focus on the fast-paced world of sports media.
Students learn news reporting, feature writing, interviewing techniques, and storytelling for print, broadcast, and digital platforms. The curriculum covers sports media production, audio and video editing, live reporting, and social media content creation, along with media law, ethics, and industry standards.
Through hands-on projects and real-world assignments, students gain experience covering sporting events, conducting interviews with athletes and professionals, and producing multimedia content. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, storytelling, audience engagement, and meeting tight deadlines.
Graduates are prepared for roles such as sports reporter, multimedia journalist, content creator, or broadcast assistant in sports media organizations, digital platforms, and communications teams.
