Bachelor of Arts/Science - Chemistry - Environmental Chemistry

Students will how chemical substances affect our planet and how we might make important chemical processes more environmentally friendly. Students will get first-hand experience in this concentration, which includes fieldwork on the Great Lakes. Students will participate in hands-on research and work one-on-one with recognized experts. Students will also present a research poster, write a thesis and even have the chance to present the research. As an environmental chemist, the lab isn't necessarily inside four walls: The research will take into the real world, where students will study how human activities affect the environment. Students will analyze air, water, and soil samples collected from Michigan freshwater ecosystems and will learn how chemistry can restore environmental balance.
