Overview
The Level 6 Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is a two-semester programme, with guaranteed progression to a wide range of Master’s degrees at Loughborough University. This programme is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the UK. The PMP will allow students to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Master's degree studies. Students will study academic modules relating to their chosen progression route. Each semester consists of thirteen teaching weeks, one reading week, and an assessment week. The weekly hours of study varies by semester with students on average studying around 18-21 (and up to 21) hours per week. Each module will have an assessment schedule, which will be completed by the end of the appropriate semester. Assessments will be designed to demonstrate learning across the individual modules of the programme and to allow students to experience a wide range of the assessment methods used in UK postgraduate programmes. Assessments will include coursework, essays, reports and other structured assignments, oral examination and unseen written examinations. Master of Arts - Global Media and Cultural Industries Media and cultural industries are not only important sources of wealth creation and employment but they can also create inequality through shaping everyday culture and public opinion. This programme is aimed at students who are looking to understand major developments within the global media industries and who wish to seek employment in this sector when they finish their studies. The Centre for Research in Communication and Culture (CRCC) brings together Loughborough University’s world leading researchers in media, communication and culture, and this MA programmes are informed by this cutting-edge research.
