Associate of Arts Degree for Transfer - Sociology

The purpose of the Associates in Arts in Sociology for Transfer is to provide students with a foundation of knowledge in the field of sociology which prepares them for transfer to the CSU/UC system for further study towards a baccalaureate degree in sociology or a related field. The student will develop knowledge and skills which will enable them to understand, evaluate, and apply social science research and theories.

The Associate in Arts in Sociology for Transfer is designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU institution for students who plan to transfer and complete a CSU major or baccalaureate degree in Sociology. California Community College students who are awarded an Associate in Arts in Sociology for Transfer are guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system and given priority admission consideration to their local CSU institution or to a program that is deemed similar to their community college major. This priority does not guarantee admission to specific majors or institutions.
