This Barrister Training Course (formerly known as the BPTC) is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to set them apart in a highly competitive field while preparing them for a thriving career at the Bar. The Barrister Training Course (BTC) focuses entirely on preparing students for a thriving career at the Bar. Each element of this comprehensive Bar training course is designed to develop students' professional skills and contextualise their learning, with teaching delivered by the expert tutors who bring their professional experience and extensive network to their studies. During the programme students will focus on developing their core advocacy skills, learning and practising in small groups to develop their confidence and allow them to obtain comprehensive, real-time feedback that prepares students for a successful and rewarding career as a barrister. Students will be supported every step of the way, with work administered and delivered by tutors to replicate a professional environment and the relationship between pupil barrister and pupil supervisor. The Barrister Training Course is taught via workshops to small groups of students, with advocacy sessions taught to groups of up to five for enhanced learning. Students will experience live, face-to-face teaching which provides an important social and collaborative learning environment. Students will also gain valuable interaction with the professionally experienced tutors, who use their expertise to bring their studies to life.
