2-Term Pathway - Engineering and Physical Sciences Foundation Certificate - Transfer to Master of Science (Honours) - Physics - Astronomy

Program Description If a student has finished high school but does not meet the entry requirements for university, a Foundation Certificate can help them to gain entry to an undergraduate degree. Admission to the University of Nottingham can be gained through a pathway course at the University of Nottingham International College. Students will be part of a large international student population at the University of Nottingham. It is a member of the elite Russell Group, and is consistently ranked among the world’s best schools.

Nottingham is home to Nobel Prize-winning research and the popular Sixty Symbols YouTube channel.

Conduct astronomical research by gathering data from the rooftop facilities and telescopes. Students will also analyse data gathered by academics using international facilities around the world and in space.

The fourth year consists of student-centred learning with synoptic modules. Students will focus study in one or two specialist areas and complete a year-long research project. Under the guidance of expert staff students will benefit from a range of learning styles. These include group work, delivering seminars, projects and independent learning.

Tailored modules such as Cosmology and Extreme Astrophysics will give students a specialist understanding of astronomy. Students also gain a wide range of skills in image processing and data analysis. This opens many career paths, from astronomical research to careers in the industrial and financial sectors.
