What you will study
The International Business, BA Hons covers the theory and practice of international business, exploring business management and organizational functions, international strategies, and different international business environments. This course introduce students to the socio-economic implications of international business, looking at business ethics and corporate social responsibility, emerging markets and economics.
Overall, this degree provides a critical understanding of the contemporary issues at work in the international business world. Students will have the opportunity to spend a year abroad on the new Turing Scheme student exchange programme and/or to take an optional placement year in an international organization. Previous students have secured a placement year at Intercontinental Hotel, FTI Consulting, Sandals Resorts International, IBM and Bank of England.
Greenwich has an experienced team of academics and industry professionals. Trained postgraduate researchers also contribute to seminar teaching with their latest research-led insight. Teaching is informed by research and consultancy work.
In a typical week learning takes place through a combination of seminars and workshops enabling students to discuss and develop their understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller groups. They'll also be able to meet their personal tutor. Outside of timetabled sessions, students need to dedicate self-study time to prepare for coursework, presentations and exams. Learners can use Stockwell Street library and online resources to support further reading and research.
Previous graduates have found employment in banking and finance, IT, logistics and many other sectors, working for companies such as PwC, JP Morgan, HP and Ericsson. Others have gone on to postgraduate study and started their own businesses.
